first one’s done!

We finished! I think we are definitely ahead of all the other groups. Definitely. Ms. Chen came by to check it out and we tested it and it works pretty much perfectly. I think it is a stellar foot washing device for the lower school students. We finished so all we have to do is start writing the paper then do our presentation. Since we cannot demonstrate our foot washer in Seto Hall, we will probably make a video of it to show. But Ms. Chen already knows it works amazingly.

Testing

Yesterday we finished up cutting the PVC pipes and gluing them into connectors for the handle bars. We are thinking of maybe not even using handle bars but possibly will. We put in foot scrubbers ontop of our box and got shower to fit inside them box. We tested it to try and see if the water would come out of the shower head and the water pressure was high and came out of another PVC pipe on the bottom. We had to re-glue the PVC and will try again today

today we went back to jungle bobs and drilled holes at the top of our box in order for the water to drain. at first we drilled tiny holes so it wouldnt be that noticeable, but when we attempted to put a scrubber on it, we realized that the water wouldnt be able to drain. so then we drilled larger holes. originally we had foot scrubbers but we ruined it so we need to buy another one. OH, and we cut our PVC pipes shorter so the thing can fit in the box. nah mean?

Today during class we presented our project and i thought that we did a fantastic job. We were much father than two of the other groups. However we did realize that we still have some work and are not as far done as we hoped. But, i feel that we should be finished by friday with no problem. We bought the foot scrubber today and we are going to make the handle bars tomorrow. And once we finish that all we have to do is put everything together which would be done by friday. We have to glue everything together but i am not worried and very excited for this week.

Hello there! We are almost finished with our project. Yay. We just need to secure the PVC pipes together with glue or something to make sure our foot washer will be durable and able to take the abuse students will give it. We then will attach it to our platform (with foot scrubbers) and see if it hooks up. When we test it out it should be able to be a useful and efficient way to wash feet (knock on wood). You will be AMAZED with our foot washer on Monday…..

Building the shower

Today we all went to alissa house after school so that we could build the shower part of our foot washer. We were luck that alissa’s dad was nice enough to buy all the parts we needed. Once we got ther we put the pipes together but our original design did not balance so we had to put more support. And now we have made a slithly modified foot washer. Also i went to longs but they did not have the foot scrubber that we wanted so i think we are going to have to order it online or go and look somewhere else.

today the four of us walked to jungle bobs and we opened the door and found our box. it was red from painting it yesterday. we had to find paint brushes and the wet sealer. when we found our materials, all four of us painted every inch of the box. painting the whole box is neccesary because we do not want water to seep through and cause molding. tomorrow we will go back and paint another coat to ensure that the box is completely waterproof. since we finished early, we started to think about what will be on our paper

Hi Ms. Chen,

Today we went back to Jungle Bob’s room to finish up our platform for our foot washer and we got a nice surprise when you came and visited us! When you came, Kainoa and Curtis were sanding the platform to make sure the students would not get splinters. After that, to make our platform more asthetically pleasing, we decided to spray paint it a raiderific red color. Tomorrow we are going to varnish the the platform to make sure it is waterproof. Building box

Today we went to jungle Bob’s, the art teacher’s, office in art building to start making our box for the platform. We cut out a base for the kids to stand on and then 4 evenly cut slabs of wood to stand the box up. Then on one of the slabs we cut a “mouth” so that the water can flow out of the box into a grate or sewege. Then we sealed the box and made sure all of the sides were sturdy. The platform is pretty strong and can hold a big amount of weight. Tomorrow we are going to try and finish the box up, furnish it, and also get all of our other materials we need for the shower and washing portion.

Hi Miss!

Today we finally finished our detailed design and we are happy. We had to fix quite a bit of things but we worked through it well. We finished our schedule and predict that we should be done building our foot washing machine within two weeks! Our first step is that we need to find ideal places on the Lower School campus to hook our foot washer machine up to. We are excited to get started and have our machine tested out with the Lower School students. We need to start looking for PVC pipes and what not. Sounds pretty fun. Yahoo.
